Ethereum: NVIDIA TESLA K80 VS M60 – Comparison Analysis
When it comes to cryptocurrency extraction, there are several factors in choosing a powerful graphics processing device (GPU). The two most popular variants of this space are the NVidia Tesla K80 and NVIDIA Tesla M60. In an ideal world where electricity and capital have been unlimited, these GPU can be easily used for cryptocurrency mining. But let’s examine how they are stacked against each other.
nvidia tesla k80
The NVIDIA TESLA K80 is the highest GPU released in 2014. It boasts huge 2560 cuda core, 14 GB HBM2 memory and can generate about 3-5 TFOl (tera floating body per second). This GPU was considered one of the strongest cards available at the time and was particularly popular with cashiers cryptocurrency.
NVIDIA TESLA M60
The Nvidia Tesla M60, which was released in 2016, is a newer model with even higher specifications. It has 4096 CUDA core, 32 GB GDDR5 memory and even faster speed to 1.4 GHz. This GPU was also designed specifically for cryptocurrency extraction and offered a much better performance than its predecessor.
Comparison time
Now that we have explored the specifications of both GPU, we compared the comparison of their results, Ethereum Mining.
* HASH ETHERUM HASH
: Tesla K80 was able to generate about 1.5-2.5-2.5/s (terra-hash per second) and Tesla M60 could produce up to 4-6/s/s ;
* Cuda Cusire and Memory
: K80 had 2560 CUDA cores, which is significantly more than 4096 CUDA M60 core. However, both GPU uses HBM2 memory, so the difference in performance is not directly correlated with this factor.
Conclusion
In an ideal world with unlimited electricity and capital, the Tesla M60 would probably be a better choice for Ethereum digging for a higher watch and more efficient design. The increased number of CUDA kernels would allow it to create a higher weight bag for an hour of energy consumed. In addition, the faster memory interface (HBM2) would significantly increase performance.
However, in practice, both GPU can achieve a high level of results. The Tesla K80 was still an incredibly powerful card, with a lower cost compared to the M60 that it allowed consumers to be accessible.
Reflections on the real world
When choosing between two GPUs for mining, there are several factors that need to be played behind only the raw power frame:
* energy consumption : Both require a lot of electricity for GPU operation, which can be expensive. The Tesla K80 was much less hungry than the M60, but both still require a lot of energy.
* Price : As mentioned above, the K80 is more affordable, making it a better value for consumers who do not plan to dig the entire cryptocurrency.
* Modernization : Both GPU are the best cards, but their architecture is modernization for newer models more complex. The M60 GPU stamp can be replaced or enhanced by new hardware, while K80 architecture is more difficult to edit.
In summary, although the NVIDIA Tesla M60 would probably offer a better Ethereum operation, if electricity and capital were unlimited, both GPU can reach a high level of operation in a more realistic budget. After all, the choice between two GPUs depends on your specific needs and priorities as cryptocurrency mining.
